American Scribe

If you are as font-addicted as I am, you’ll fall in love with this one. American Scribe is a beautiful re-creation of Timothy Matlack’s handwriting. And why should we find Mr. Matlack interesting? He’s the patriot who “penned” the original copies of the Declaration of Independence.

Each character is designed so they flow together just like handwriting should. The font set includes several additional swirls and flourishes to recreate America’s original document perfectly. No, this is not a free font, but it’s worth every penny of its $39 price tag.

This isn’t the only quality font you’ll find here. Old Fonts specializes in 18th and 19th century handwriting. My favorite is Houston Pen based on Sam Houston’s handwriting.
