Run a Family News Service with Posterous
Posterous may be categorized as a mini-blogging service, but the only thing “mini” about it is the amount of effort you need to do some amazing things. In this article, we’re going to put the group feature to work to support a family or project team trying to stay connected.
Any Posterous blog can have more than one contributor. All you need to add a contributor is that person’s email address. There are no accounts to create or passwords to remember. The new contributor only needs to know the Posterous blog’s email address to send content to the blog. For those digitally-challenged family members, it doesn’t get much easier than this. On the contributors page there’s a checkbox for sending each new post to all contributors via email. Just add all your family members as contributors and even if Uncle Bob never contributes, he’ll receive all the latest family news in his inbox.
What can you share via Posterous? News and announcements, of course, but there’s a lot more. Send a photo and it will be resized to fit within your blog design. Send several photos and Posterous will create a very nice little photo gallery for them. Music or voice recordings are presented with an audio player and there’s a player for videos too. All you do is attach them to your email and Posterous takes care of the rest.
If you’re concerned about privacy, Posterous takes care of that too. You can make your entire blog private – requiring a password to view it. All contributors will be able to see the site without a password. You can also make individual posts private by sending them to private@posterous.com. An email is sent back with the private link to that post. No more whining from the princess cousin who can never remember her login. Yes, I’m a happy camper.
For those families who want a simple way to stay connected, Posterous offers all that and more.

You sold me on Posterous last month (or was is November?) and I set up an account, tried it out, and then got busy with all the holiday stuff. I forgot all about it until I read you’re post. I’m going to have to get back to it and see what I’m missing! Thanks for the reminder :-)
