Looking at Princess Place from Pellicer Creek
Pellicer Creek runs along the county line between St. Johns and Flagler Counties south of St. Augustine. This 6.7 mile (round trip) trail runs between Faver-Dykes State Park and Princess Place and represents only a small taste of all that Pellicer Creek has to offer. When looking at the canoe trail information sheet, you see what looks like a large bay between Princess Place and the Intracoastal Waterway running parallel with Highway A1A. In actuality, this a large area of flats with any number of small hammocks and sandbars – and some great fishing. You’ll also find launch sites along Highway A1A at Bing’s Landing to the southeast of Princess Place and next to Whitney Marine Lab at Marineland.
Winds and tides can make paddling this area a challenge as there is little protection anywhere on Pellicer Creek east of I-95. Keep an eye to the sky – especially in the summer – as thunderstorms can form quickly.
