Over at WordPress.com, users can include their own chat rooms using the tlk.io chat service. It’s free and a delight to use! It’s not limited to just .com users either. Below you see a chat embedded here on my self-hosted WordPress site. [NOTE: If you are reading this in email or a newsreader, you will need to open the post in a browser to see the WebChat.]
There’s nothing fancy about tlk.io – no whistles and bells – just quick and easy chatting. Best of all, you can sign in using your Twitter account and it will display your Twitter icon so folks will know who they are chatting with.
In addition to using an embed code, WordPress.com users have access to the tlk.io WebChat widget to display a chat in their sidebar. Self-hosted WordPress users can install the tlk.io plugin. It then uses a shortcode to place the chat into a page or a post.
If you want to get a little social interaction going on your site, you won’t find it easier to do than this. Check out tlk.io’s blog for more information.
