Online Genealogy Records by Location

The FamilySearch Wiki has amazing section dedicated to finding online genealogy records. The Online Genealogy Records directory is organized by location and by record type. According to the introduction, these directories include birth records, marriage records, death records, biographies, cemeteries, censuses, church records, histories, immigration records, land records, maps, military records, native races, naturalizations, newspapers, obituaries and probate records.

United States records are organized by state and by record type. Other records are organized by geographic areas including:

  • Africa
  • Asia and the Pacific
  • British Isles
  • Canada and North America
  • Europe
  • Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean
  • South America

Most of the sources appear to be collections available within FamilySearch, but they have also included local archives, GenWeb resources, and commercial archives. Each directory page includes links to other related pages. For example, the U.S. Military page includes a note to search the state directories for statewide military collections.
